Postknight 2 is an RPG-like adventure game developed by Kurechii. It is the second game in the Postknight series, acting as a sequel to the first one. I was part of the development team to work on the new area "Wastelands" in 2023.
Early in 2023, I was the supporting lead to setup a new area in Postknight 2 called Wastelands. It was part of the Turning Tides major update released on the 26th September 2023.

Turning Tides - v2.0 Wastelands Update!
Unlike the Wintertide event from my previous post, I was included in every development process for Wastelands, which was 10x more stressful but also 10x more fun! While I can't share the exact technical implementation process of the project, I can share which areas I've contributed to :D
Weapon Trait Design
Blackout Dance: Final Slash deals additional damage based on HP lost.
Blade's Flourish: Charge skills will cause a blast on each enemy hit, dealing 15% damage to everything around it.
Fate's Buffer: Gain 30% of Max HP as armour and receive double damage for 5s. Remaining armour percentage is returned as additional HP.
Wastelands Pet Setup
There are 2 new pets in this update, Sand Angel and Golpy. Can you tell which animals they are inspired from?
My task was to setup the new pets into Leila's market as well as the Premium Market. This includes setting up the config for IAPs for the pets, pet fashion and promotional deals.
Market, Inn, Blacksmith & Alchemist Setup
My task was to setup and validate the Wastelands Town, which includes all of the items for sale, armoury and potion upgrades. In the Main Quest, I also set up the drop rates and end battle items such as new potions and armoury sets.
Achievements
Wastelands itself has its own achievements and secret achievements. My task was to set them up and validate them. While I can't reveal the secret achievements outright, I can.... give a hint, it has something to do with crabs.. ;) Good luck!
Premium Market v2
Besides the Wastelands new area release, there was also the revamped Premium Market, for which I was the designer in charge. The objective for the change was to improve monetization and allow for smoother transactions for multiple items.
This is due to the previous version of the premium market only allowing one item to be purchased at a time, if players wanted to purchase multiple items, it would only be possible in separate transactions (can you imagine wanting to buy 45 Gold Ores!?)
Premium Market v2
My task was to set up the entire premium market from scratch in a new database, I worked closely with the UI programmer to set a solid framework, as the objective was to improve scalability and give designers the flexibility to implement trades without programmer's intervention, which gives designers more freedom with their inputs. This Premium Market v2 system would then replace every other market in the game.
I also worked closely with the producer to ensure the UX design was improved and the placement of trades from pricing, quantity, visuals, descriptions etc., works with the new UI and meets the expectations. Anything related to IAPs, monthly/weekly/daily deals, character customisation and rare item deals, will go through me, to be implemented into the Premium Market.
There's also the Legacy Fashion feature that's new to the game. It's a lucky draw system to get Prism Pass fashion that players might have missed out on. Before I continue, Prism Pass is a monthly pass where players can complete daily quests to earn Pass Points to unlock rewards. There are 2 reward tiers, the Free tier and the Premium tier. The free tier is self-explanatory, the Premium tier can be purchased monthly to unlock higher value rewards and the monthly fashion!
Legacy Fashion Lucky Draws give players the chance to draw the Prism Pass fashion they have missed out on. It's not all luck though, if players draw duplicate fashions, they will only receive 1x of that fashion and will be given a Fashion Token. If they have collected enough Fashion Tokens, they can exchange them for the specific fashion they want directly! (this isn't sponsored by Kurechii, I swear)
